AdSense FAQ

Questions with answers from AdSenseAdvisor.

What is a channel?

It's an extra code you can have added in the ads that does some great stuff.

To track each of your ad units, link units, and AdSense for search boxes. Then you can figure out on your own which color schemes, placements and ad formats are most effective for your particular site.

I clicked a bunch of ads on the first day, and I didn't know. What do I do?

If you accidentally click on your own ads, it's best to let the AdSense team know. Email
adsense-support@google.com and explain the situation.

Google Adsense ads (and AdLinks) are using italic text. How do I make them look normal?

Firefox Adblock extension can cause that, and AdSenseAdvisor said...

Try clearing your browser cache and deleting your browser cookies. Sometimes strange things happen when cookies are corrupted.

I got some English text on my site, but it's mostly *Insert other language.* Why do I mostly get PSAs?

It looks like PSAs are appearing because *Insert other language* is currently not supported by the AdSense program. While I see that there is some English content, it is probably not enough for our crawlers to be able to determine the meaning of your page and serve relevant ads.

If you are not satisfied with the ads that are appearing, I recommend removing the code until we are able to support *Insert other language*. I see you are already using AdSense for search, and recommend continuing to use this option in the meantime.

AdSense serves ads that are relevant to the text-based content of a given site, which provides a positive experience for advertisers, users and publishers. If AdSense is placed on a site written in an unsupported language, the ads probably won't be relevant. Therefore, we kindly ask that you do not modify your code to try to alter the natural targeting.

Are AdSense Trackers OK to use?

If you're not modifying the code, or trapping the clicks or changing the way ads are processed, it should be all right to implement a click-counter script like the ones suggested.

Do be careful not to change the ad code without realizing it, though.

How can I view my ads with out clicking them?

If you are using Windows and the Internet Explorer browser, you can download the Google AdSense preview tool. More information is available at:

http://www.google.com/support/adsense/bin/topic.py?topic=160

If you are not using Windows or do not have access to the Internet Explorer browser, you can view the destination URL of ads appearing on your site by following the instructions on:

http://www.google.com/support/adsense/bin/answer.py?answer=9876

If you use these tips, you can set your mind at ease when you want to view the ads appearing on your site.

Should I be worried about all the accounts disabled for invalid clicks reports?

I've noticed there seems to be concern surrounding accounts disabled for invalid clicks.

We have not made any significant changes to our monitoring system recently, and would like to reassure publishers that we value our relationships with you. However, sometimes it is necessary to disable some publisher accounts to maintain the quality of the network and ensure the long-term viability of the program.

We have strict policies and guidelines for invalid clicks. However, each escalated case is re-reviewed by a team dedicated to detecting invalid activity using several specialized tools and a wide variety of techniques.

Generally, this action is reserved for deliberate and egregious violations of the ToS and should not affect most of you. In most other cases, we try to work with publishers to comply with our guidelines and improve the results of their AdSense implementation.

In all cases, if you notice something suspicious in your account statistics, or if you feel there has been a misunderstanding, please email us.

Will I get terminated for not generating enough clicks or impressions?

While this language is indeed included in the T&C, please note that we have never done this sort of termination.

Can Adsense be in pop-ups?

According to AdSense program policies (
http://www.google.com/adsense/policies):

No Google ad or Google search box may be displayed on any domain parking websites, pop-ups, pop-unders, or in any email.

From AdSenseAdvisor...

The reason for this policy is that Google believes strongly in providing a positive experience for the user. We have found that pop-ups, pop-unders, etc. take away from the user experience.

Can I have AdSense placed in a newsletter (online) that is accessed by a link in an email to a sites newsletter subscribers?

As long as the newsletter is a live HTML page, you should be able to use AdSense. The ToS apply to newsletters sent out by email (i.e., when the text of the newsletter is pasted into an email). If the email you send out only contains a link to the newsletter page, you should be fine.

Some times I get a message that says 'Page could not be found' with a 404 error, where the link units should be. What do I do?

Make sure you alternative ad URL is working, and from AdSenseAdvisor.....

I recommend contacting
adsense-support@google.com. They should be able to tell you what's happening.

Everyday, my 'aggregate' clicks are about 15% more than the sum of all my channel clicks. Why do I have missing clicks?

If you are using URL channels, some of these clicks could have been generated from cached versions of your page appearing in search engine results. Also, someone might be framing your content so the clicks are attributable to a different URL. Using 'www' in your URL channel can also have an effect on tracking.

If you are using custom channels, it is likely that one of your ad units might not be attributable to a channel.

Is it OK to create an Adsense Search Engine, ie direct users to a particular keyword?

I recommend reading the 'Implementation and Operation of Ads and Search Results' section of the AdSense ToS (
http://www.google.com/adsense/localized-terms).

We ask that you do not pre-populate search results. Search queries should be generated naturally by your users. In fact, a new AdSense for search feature allows you to see the top 25 queries generated by your AdSense for search box, which is a feature many publishers requested to help with site optimization.

Also, as per the AdSense program policies (http://www.google.com/adsense/policies)....

We do not permit Google ads or search boxes accessing Google search services to be published on web pages that also contain what could be considered competing ads or services...If you have elected to receive Google search services, this would include other search services on the same site and non-Google query-targeted ads. We do allow affiliate or limited-text links.

Can we have images above or next to our ads?

Yes, but include a border line between the ads and use generic ads.

From AdSenseAdvisor...

Placing images above AdSense ads is not necessarily prohibited by program policies. However, depending on the method of implementation this could be considered `encouraging users to click on ads'.

Encouraging users to click on the Google ads appearing on your site is prohibited by AdSense program policies. The reason for this is to prevent artificial inflation of advertiser costs. This benefits both advertisers and publishers by preserving the integrity of the network, and maintaining its long-term viability.

If you have concerns about whether you have implemented your ads in a way that complies with AdSense program policies, feel free to email us with your URL. A specialist will be happy to conduct a review, and you will not be penalized.

My Adsense ads stopped showing up on some of his pages, and then stopped showing up altogether. Why?

This problem is isolated to your colleague's computer and you are able to see ads on your computer. I have several suggestions which might clear up this problem.

First, have clear your browser cache and delete the browser cookies on both IE and Firefox. This sometimes solves the problem. Next, make sure that JavaScript is enabled on the browsers.

If the problem persists, I suggest taking the following measures:

1. Scan your computer for viruses, making sure that any anti-virus programs on his computer contain the most recent updates.
2. Download and run an anti-spyware program to remove any adware and/or spyware from his computer.

What are CPC ads versus CPM ads?

Cost-per-click (CPC) and cost-per-thousand-impression (CPM). When AdWords advertisers bid on a CPM basis, their ads will compete against CPC ads to display on your pages. Our technology automatically displays whichever ad will generate the maximum revenue for that page, so these ads should only improve your site's revenue potential. if a CPM ad appears on your site, you will be paid each time it appears on your page, not every 1000 times. The term 'cost-per-thousand-impressions' refers to they way AdWords advertisers bid on these ads.

For example, an AdWords advertiser might bid $X for 1000 ad impressions. If this ad appears on your site through the AdSense program, you will receive 1/1000 of $X each time the ad appears. This type of ad will only show on your site if it represents more revenue potential than a CPC ad.

Can we view CPM ads on our own site?

You are permitted to view CPM ads appearing on your pages without the risk of creating invalid ad impressions.

Will AdSense effect my Google listings?

AdSense does not affect either positively or negatively your site traffic or its ranking in the Google search results.

Other questions and answers.

What do I do if I'm about to get bombed with visitors?

E-mail Google ASAP. Atleast a few business days in advance if you can, and save the E-mail and there reply. Suddenly geting bombed with visitors has been known to make Google send out that invalid clicks termination E-Mail. If you then get terminated, you can reply to them with a copy of your E-mail and there reply. Be polite! Explain to them what caused the massive increase in visitors, and include links to anything that can back you up. For example, a major web page that adds a link to your site.

What is the life of a Payment?

Can I sign-up if I'm under 18?

Yes. You must have a parent or guardian submit an application using their name as the payee name and all payments will be made to the adult.

Do I need to contact Google every time I make a new web site?

No.

How do I use section targeting to emphasize or downplay when matching ads to my site's content?

Use section targeting. On your site, place this code where you want to emphasize.

Content you want to emphasize.

If you want some content to be ignored, use

Why don't I see any change in ads after using section targeting?

It can take two weeks before the robots notice the change.

Can Amazon ads be on the same page as Google ads?

Yes.

Can affiliate text links be on the same page as AdSense?

Yes. Though if you join programs that look like AdSense, such as Yahoo ad program, where the ads show content related to the page, you can't have them on the same page as Google.

Are there animated ads in Google?

Yes.

Can I add ads with in posts of vBulletin or phpBB?

Yes. Look at the ads on
DigitalPoint for an example. You can also add them to the right or left of the posts.

Can I have Google ads in E-Mail?

Nope. "No Google ad or Google search box may be displayed on any domain parking websites, pop-ups, pop-unders, or in any email."

Is AdSense allowed on pure commercial sites?

Yes.

Is there any way to see what ads my visitors are clicking?

Nope. But you can see what keywords people search for when you use Googles search.

If you didn't get a invalid clicks E-Mail, try clearing your cookies/temp files etc, reboot and try again. If you still can't log-in after about a day, E-mail Google. If you don't get a reply, start panicing!

Can I check my AdSense stats on a Cell Phone?

Yes, IF it can handle HTML. If you can't view Google.com on it, then no, you can't check your stats on it. One user has a HP Ipaq phone and it can view AdSense stats. Another user uses the Samsung Pocket PC Phone.

So I was clicking my own ads, and now my account has been disabled. What do I do to get back in?

*yawn*

And next time you join a program, read the rules.

Can I place Yahoo and Google ads on the same site?

Yes, BUT, they can not be on the same page. And you can have it random, one time Yahoo, and another time Google. Just don't have them both show up on the same page.

Who pays more, Google or Yahoo?

There's not a lot of info out on this yet. I got three quotes from three users that are now testing Yahoo... 'Yahoo pays 100% more'. Another one is 'finding YPN actually better than Adsense', and 'the CPC is better then AdSense'

Of course we don't know how the payout will be after Yahoo get's out of beta. As far as we know, they could cut payout in half a few months after going public when all the hype dies down.

If you got Yahoo Ads on your site, post your results on the boards and compare them to Google Ads.

Is it OK to tell visitors to click non-Adsense ads on a site with AdSense Ads?

Don't!!!! From
Critters

A friend had Adsense ads on his site and some non-Adsense ads that he made to advertise other areas of his site and his other sites, he asked his members to click them, they got confused and clicked all ads, he was banned.

Managed to get back on after many emails to G, but I would not bother if I were you. Any sudden increase in CTR is going to get your site looked at by the Adsense team, and "click my ads" anywhere on your site could get you booted.

Don't take the risk!

How can I be making money from no clicks?

You had CPM ads.

How do I report a cheater?

Click the 'Ads by Goooooogle' link. Then select the 'Report a violation.' option and tell them about the cheater.

How do I get my ads up there with AdSense Ads?

Advertise in
AdWords. And choose the setting that lets your ads show up on publisher sites. (I think it's set to yes by default unless you change it.)

What are the rules about having images next to ads?

Google says....

Because ads are dynamic, publishers should be very careful not to place images that could deceive users directly above the ads. Highly general "stock" images are less likely to be deceptive than very specific images that suggest a specific offering at the advertiser's site.

Maintain a visible border around ad units if you choose to experiment with placing images directly above the ad units. While I realize that this may reduce the effectiveness of the technique, it's important to strike a balance between the potential to overcome ad blindness and the possibility of confusing users.

Contrasting color border around the Adsense Ad block or a simple HR code between them will work. Don't make the images look like there part of the ads. E-mail Google if you're not sure.

Do they tell you when they send a check out?

Yes! Check the
Payment History.

Is it OK to insert Adsense after the first post in forums?

Yes.

I've been denied twice from joining. WHY?

Content! Content! Content! And read the TOS. For example, if the site is about firearms, xxx, gambling, or warez, even if it's just for example firearms reviews, that might set off the deny button. In short, (List made by
alang)....

1. Site under construction.
2. Not enough pages.
3. Not enough traffic.
4. Site that doesn't comply with policy.

Don't give up. Many people have had to sign up a few times before getting accepted. And try to get a good PR!

What if I get denied when I sign-up and Google says I got banned before, yet I've never used AdSense?

If you get this E-Mail......

Your AdSense account was found to be related to an account previously disabled for invalid click activity. A publisher who has an account that has been disabled for invalid clicks is not allowed further participation in the AdSense programme.

and you've never used AdSense before, try to figure out WHY they might be thinking you were once banned.
IP Address? Owning a domain that was once owned by a user that cheated AdSense?? Once you figure out the cause, send them a nicely worded explanation, and cross your fingers.

Are Adsense stats a good source to check your traffic?

Note really. Many visitors, including FireFox users can block AdSense ads.
One user get's twice the pageviews in awstat and webalizer than show up in the AdSense reports.

How do I add AdSense to my feeds?

Sign up for the beta. If you get approved, Log in, click the AdSense for content tab and under Ad Type, select AdSense for feeds unit.

Can I change the colors?

AdSense allows you to have up to 4 color variations for each variable for which you can specify color. For example.

google_color_border = ["628098","628098","000000","000000"];
google_color_link = ["000000","BBB90C","BBB90C","628098"];
google_color_url = ["000000","628098","000000","000000"];
google_color_text = ["628098","628098","000000","000000"];

Great for overcoming ad blindness.

OMG my CTR is way up, Google must be doing something! Am I going to get banned?

It won't last for long if you keep going bonkers over your earnings. Studies show that the more time you spend looking at your earnings, the less money you make. Get a life. Go work on your site!

OMG my CTR and eCPM is way down, Google must be cutting payouts for everyone, who else is seeing the same thing?

You need help. Get rid of the pot and call 1-800-Get-A-Life.

How much can I earn?

Look at this thread.

How long does it take to start earning money?

As soon as you place ads on your site, get visitors, and enough visitors to get clicks. Then as soon as you make $100.00 you'll get paid a month after the current month ends that you passed $100.00 and enter your PIN.

When do I get paid?

Google will send your check or EFT payment within approximately 30 days of the end of the month after you make US$100, unless a payment hold exists or unless otherwise agreed to in writing (including electronic mail).

For example, if you earn $40 in January and $70 in February, we'll send payment to you by the end of March.

If your account balance is less than US$100 at the end of the month, we'll roll your earnings over to the following month, until the payment threshold is reached. Balances include the combined earnings of AdSense for content and AdSense for search pages.

If you get the invalid clicks E-mail, you will not get another payment from Google unless you get reinstated.

Why can't I sign-up for EFT?

You don't live in Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United States.

Other people are getting the Payment In Progress message but I'm not. What's up with that???

Not every one get's the message at the same time. Google is known for giving the message to those getting paid by check first, then a few days letter the EFT payments start getting progressed. If you don't get the message by the end of the month, E-Mail Google, if you made over $100 last month.

I didn't get my check. Can I be reissued a check?

Yes. Make a request 25 days after the check was issued. If you receive checks by Secured Express Delivery, you can request a reissue of any month's payment after the 5th of the next month.

To request a new check, E-mail Google at adsense-support@Google.com and include the number, date, and amount of the check that you'd like reissued.

I didn't get my PIN.

E-Mail Google two weeks after they send it. Google sends it when you make $50.

How do I change my payee information?

You can't. You can only cancel the account and get a new one.

What do I do if my EFT payment fails?

Look at the notice on your Payment History page. Reentering your bank info can fix some issues, or you may have to contact Google.

Do I have to pay taxes on the money I earn?

If you are in the USA, yes. Get TurboTax. You may need to pay quarterly or get fines. As for other countries, odds are you do. Check with a CPA in your country.

Are my stats reflected in real time?

Reports on impressions and clicks are usually updated every fifteen to thirty minutes and occasionally there will be a delay of 24 hours or more in the reports you see on the website, according to Google. Though it usually looks like it's more like a few hours delay, on average.

Does high CTR mean elimination from Adsense?

Probably not. It shows your site is very optimized. It's when you have a massive spike that you want to worry about it. One thing to worry about is getting click-bombed. If you average 100 clicks a day, and suddenly get a 500 click day, contact Google immediately.

What is a good CTR?

It depends on the kind of site you got. Some sites have trouble getting a 1% CTR. Others have no trouble getting over 10% CTR. Check the links at the end of the FAQ for tips on optimizing your site.

Why does the page eCPM goes down as day progresses?

The ads which pay higher can end because they reach their daily limit. -
microtony

CTR over 100% - what's up with that?

Visitors can click the ads more than once, like when they don't find what they want after the first click.

I clicked my own Ads by mistake!

Don't panic. No ones perfect. Many of us have done that. If you are really worried, you can E-mail them.

How do I keep from getting terminated? - valeriya

Do use the Adsense approved formats only.

Do keep your click-through data and income private.

Don't display Adsense on registration or thank you pages.

Don't use Adsense code and a competitor's content-targeted advertisement on the same page.

Don't encourage anyone else to click on ads.

Don't click on the site's own ads ever.

Read the Adsense policies and terms.

The easiest method an account can be banned is by a Webmaster clicking on the site's own ads.

Spikes in click-through percentages are hefty red flags. Those are the changes worth becoming proactive over by emailing Google Adsense. A site that rises from a consistent 1% click-through rate to a 10% click-through rate on one day could become suspect. The actual percentage that creates the flag isn't made public for obvious reasons.

How many ads can I place on one page?

You can place one link unit and 3 regular ad units.

Can my account be reinstated after being disabled for invalid activity?

If you feel additional information would be valuable in explaining your situation, you can notify Google at adsense-adclicks@Google.com, or respond to the disapproval notice that was emailed to you.

Respond to the questions asked by the support team, and they will be happy to reconsider your account with the additional information provided. There is no guarantee that you will be reinstated into AdSense. If they feel the advertisers and publishers will be adversely impacted by invalid activity we may from time to time cease a publisher's participation in the program.

Can I display ads on search results pages?

Yes.

Can I sign up for more than one account?

Not unless you sign up for additional accounts under separate business entities. It's a good idea to E-Mail Google before you do.

How do I beta test AdSense for feeds?

Complete an application
here.

How do I change my email address / login?

1. Create a new email. If possible, use the email address currently associated with your AdSense account
2. Write 'Login change request' as the subject of your message
3. Include the following in the body of your message:
* The email address currently associated with your account
* The email address you'd like to use as your new account email address
* The date of the first day your account registered AdSense impressions
* The number of page impressions registered on your first day of impressions

4. Send the email to adsense-support@Google.com

If you currently do not have access to the email address associated with your account, Google may require more information to complete this request. (When I changed my E-mail address and didn't have access to the old E-Mail address, they did not require any extra info from me.)

Why am I getting PSAs?

Google has not yet crawled all the pages of your website.
Your page may contain sensitive content for which relevant paying ads will not be displayed.
Your website is using session IDs in the URL.
The AdSense code was placed within an IFRAME.
Your web pages are behind a login.
There are too many URLs added to your account filter list.
Your web page may not contain enough content.
Your site content is primarily in an unsupported language.

Your site has restricted access using a robots.txt exclusion. If you would like to grant Google's crawler access your pages, you can do so without granting permission to any other bots. Simply add the following two lines to the top of your robots.txt file:

User-agent: Mediapartners-Google*
Disallow:

Your website is using frames. In order for Google to serve better targeted ads to the content on your website, select the Framed page checkbox from the Ad layout code page when generating your ad code.

Why are ads not appearing on my site?

You will need to enable JavaScript in your browser in order to view Google ads on a website. Personal firewall software or ad blocking software can cause Google ads to not display.
If your site was previously disapproved, and is later reconsidered and approved for the AdSense program, there may be a delay of up to 48 hours before all of Googles servers are informed of the change and ads begin appearing on your site.

I tried joining a week ago but I haven't got any reply. What do I do?

E-mail Google.

Why are my high paying ads getting so low EPC?

Made for Adsense sites don't work! Give the advertisers poor quality clicks and they stop allowing there ads to show up. Plus there can be a lot of advertisers trying to make money off high paying keywords. For example, for mesothelioma, for every high paying advertiser (Think lawyers.) there are probably 25 low paying advertisers, and with the thousands of sites promoting the term, the lawyers get such low results that they probably stopped allowing there ads to show up on web sites.

Can somebody sabotage my account?

This is just a guess. But if Google doesn't compare domain registration contact with your account address, then yes, some one easily can. Then there's privacy registration which can make it hard to compare your address with the domain registration and contact the real site owner, and would probably get you dumped since the whois address wouldn't match.

What are highest paying keywords?

Look at this page.

I have placed Adsense in my site for X months, but I have only made $X.00. How can I make more money?

Get a lot more visitors and optimize your site using the links at the end of the FAQ.

It looks like every one is getting banned. Why should I even join?

Because you might be one of the 95+% that don't get banned and stay a member for years to come and keep getting payments. That's like saying 'Why should I even make money since I'll have to pay taxes??!!'

Should I make AdSense only sites?

No. Make real sites. Not sites that you make just to get the visitor to come, and then leave on the AdSense ads. Google isn't known for banning people from going this..YET. But one of these days they might start banning for this.

Is it possible to filter keywords or general topics from your ads?

Nope. You can only block domains. Or keep the topic keywords out of your site.

Is a high PR required to get high paying ads?

PR doesn't have anything to do with what ads you get.

A Different Approach of Building a Google AdSense Site

Google AdSense income is great income for people with all sorts of websites. Most people start their AdSense business by setting up a website and then run Google AdSense ad on this new web site. They then use all sorts of marketing techniques to promote this new website and start making money from this website. This is a normal approach use to start a Google AdSense business. However there is an alternative approach to this.

In contrary to normal approach, you decide the niche market you want to target before you decide a theme for your AdSense site. You can find a competitive niche market by doing a search using the common keywords of the targeted niche market. A search for a common keyword in a competitive niche market should show a multitude of pay per clicks ads of different products and services from different companies in the search engine result. Then you should find out which high value keywords these companies are using for their pay per click advertising campaign. After you’ve found the target niche market and high value keywords, you can build your AdSense site by creating quality content around these keywords.

How do you know which are the high paying keywords?

The easiest way for you to find out how much the Advertisers are paying for keywords is be the advertiser yourself. You can use keyword suggestion tools to find a list of keywords that these companies may use. Then you bid for these keywords using your own Google Adwords account. You can then determine a list of high value keywords by recording how much you need to pay in order for you to get the top ad position.

As soon as you’ve determine the high-paying keywords, you can start building your AdSense site around these keywords. You can create unique, quality and keyword rich content that is related to those products and services in your targeted niche market. Optimized your site based on SEO checklist and then promote your AdSense site using different marketing techniques such as advertise on ezines, viral marketing techniques, Search Engine Advertising, online directories listing and PR. Your search engine optimized AdSense site is most likely to rank top in the search engine results. This will likely to attract people who are looking for more information on those products or services they want to purchase via online. This will give you the traffic you need for your AdSense site.

This approach works better than the normal approach because your site will attract people who are likely to click on AdSense ads on your site. Since the content on your web site is targeted on high-paying keywords, the AdSense ads on your new site are likely to be linked to these keywords. With a good click through rate and high-paying AdSense ads show on your site, your AdSense earnings will be better.

15 Great Google AdSense tips to earn money

Summary for: http://adsense-exposure.blogspot.com/2006/10/15-great-google-adsense-tips-to-earn.html

Google AdSense Tip #1: Find your keywords
Before serving ads on a web page, check its keyword density. A free and advanced tool for finding the most prominent keywords in a page can be found here: SEO Density Analyzer.

Google AdSense Tip #2: Improve your keywords
Get keyword suggestions from Overture Search Inventory and from Google AdWords Sandbox. Get new keywords that can help you improve your ad relevance.

Google AdSense Tip #3: Keep your website focused on a theme
Use the keyword suggestions to enhance your web pages and to build theme-based content. And also try to get your keywords into the anchor text of your incoming links as much as possible. Don't forget that Google Google AdSense is keyword-targeted advertising.

Google AdSense Tip #4: Write a new page every day
One of the best tips is to add a new page to your web site every day. The more content you have, the more visitors you will get. Put an Google AdSense unit on each and every content page of your site.

Google AdSense Tip #5: Choose the right Google AdSense format
Wider formats are successful because the ads are compact, easy to read and are complementary to the content. The top three Google AdSense formats are:

* 336x280 large rectangle
* 300x250 medium rectangle
* 160x600 wide skyscraper

Google AdSense Tip #6: Color tips
When creating your Google Google AdSense ads it is recommended to use the color scheme and style of your website so that the ads blend in well. Ads without background color and borders perfom better than ads within borders with background color.

Google AdSense Tip #7: Position tips
Visitors tend to look at the big headlines to see if your page is worth reading. If you get them interested, they will read the text and look for your navigation links. Place the Google AdSense ads in a prominent place around the top/left part of your page or under your headlines, where your visitors are most likely to look at. If you have an article page with a long body of text, the bottom of that article is a good place for Google AdSense ads because your visitors read the text and then they want more resources.

Google AdSense Tip #8: Increase the number of ads
If you have a lot of text on a page, use multiple Google AdSense units. You can use up to three Google AdSense units on a page, two Google AdSense search boxes and one unit of ad links. Link units allow the user to refine what they're interested in. So if they may not be interested in specific ads on your page, they might be interested in a particular topic, and by clicking on a link unit and a link in the link unit, they'll be able to specify that they're interested in that specific topic and get a lot more options and variety on the ads that might appear on the search results.

Google AdSense Tip #9: Preview Google ads
You can find out what ads will be served by Google Google AdSense if you install Google Google AdSense Preview Tool, a very simple tool available only for Internet Explorer 6.0. Click to advertiser sites without generating invalid clicks, and easily add their URLs to your URL filter list. Because Google AdSense uses geo-targeting, Google serves different ads for other countries. Instead of faking your IP or travelling abroad to test your ads, use this Google AdSense tool to see what ads see your visitors from France, Germany or other countries.

Google AdSense Tip #10: What not to do

* Don't click your own ads
* Don't ask others to click on your Google ads
* Don't manually change Google AdSense code
* Don't place Google ads on sites that include prohibited content (e.g.: adult sites)
* Don't employ cloaking, hidden text or farm links
* Don't use Google AdSense ads on the same page with similar ads (e.g.: Yahoo Publisher Network)

Google AdSense Tip #11: Show images above or next to your ads
Placing images above Google AdSense ads is not necessarily prohibited by program policies. However, depending on the method of implementation this could be considered encouraging users to click on ads. So you should include a border line between the ads and the images. Don't show specific products in your images, in order not to mislead the visitors. Just use generic images that will increase the visibility of your ads.

Google AdSense Tip #12: Use section targeting
Use section targeting to emphasize some content in your page. On your site, place this code where you want to emphasize. Content you want to emphasize. If you want some content to be ignored, use

Google AdSense Tip #13: Alternate the colors of your ads
Google AdSense allows you to have up to 4 color variations for each variable for which you can specify color. You should do that if you put Google AdSense ads on pages that receive many impressions from the same visitors (for example forums) to reduce ad blindness.

Google AdSense Tip #14: Your Google ads should be visible
Make sure your text ads are visible to the surfers in all screen formats. If you put the ads in a table give sufficient breathing room, i.e. proper cell padding and cell spacing to make the ads stand out from the rest of your content.

Google AdSense Tip #15: Use Google AdSense channels
You can categorize the content of your website into channels and then track your performance. This way you can experiment with different types of ads and see which is performing the best. Instead of buying an Google AdSense tracker, you can enter the most important pages in your site and see how they are doing. Create up to 200 channels for Google AdSense.

How To Make Money With Google Adsense

Websites are being created everyday, using this growing phenomenon to their advantage, Google created Google AdSense. Google AdSense is a tool that anyone who owns a website can utilize. It is a simple process and the monetary reward can be limitless. With Google AdSense a company’s money making possibilities can increase exponentially.

This program is ideal for any website owner and it is a great incentive for those who don’t own a website to consider creating one. Whether a website enjoys the benefits of high traffic or a smaller scale viewing, utilizing Google AdSense does not cost the user a penny. It is simply an added money generating tool that can only benefit the user. There is no start-up fee, no hidden monthly costs, just a simple straightforward program that can help the user and Google make money!

Google AdSense is a great way to generate extra income even while you are away, for example, on vacation. You do not have to do anything more than set up a website and ensure that you have a steady flow of viewer traffic. This is why AdSense is ideal for blogging websites. A blogger can simply post a few articles and let the ads on the page generate a monetary return. And, the more a blogger posts, the more possible viewer traffic, you can imagine the great earning potential.

How does it work?

To utilize Google AdSense simply visit Google’s website and create an AdSense account. Within a few days, you will be notified whether your account has been accepted or denied. If your account has been accepted, you can then utilize your “AdSense for content” publisher id number which looks something like this ca-pub-9187111800071908. This id number acts to populate your website with Google ads and every time a viewer of your page clicks on an ad, you receive a percentage of what Google earns.

Two things to be aware of when using Google AdSense

Though the benefits of using Google AdSense are limitless, Google does use discretion and does not give an AdSense account to all website users. If they do not approve of your website’s company, subject matter, or services, for example your account request can be denied. Do not fret though! Create a new website. Google is looking to make money and they want to give their account access to websites they feel will generate a profitable return. It is also important to note that Google can track viewer traffic. If they find that ad clicks are being generating by the same website too often or the activity seems suspicious, i.e. you cannot click the ads on your own page your account will be closed. If this happens to you, getting your account access back can be close to impossible. Google does not tolerate the misuse of their program. Though it is a money making endeavor for both parties, the user and Google, it is still a privilege they are offering you, so be sure to respect their policies.

The New Revolution In Adsense Earnings

There are a bunch of people on the Internet that are pulling in thousands of dollars every single week by using certain information about AdSense. I’ve come across a product called Adsense Gold which is referred to all over the Internet as one of the best solutions to increase your AdSense earnings, including tripling your adsense CTR & EPC. I checked it out and thought that it was simply one of the best solutions available. It works on three simple principles.

First is that you get the right ad format and placement. That means you use this guy’s statistics based on millions and millions of page impressions to work out what the very best performing ad format is. What he does is he tells you the best color to use, the best size of ad, the best shape of ad and where to place the ad. He also talks about the best performing color; in terms of links, headlines, etc. He removes all the guesswork from you in terms of having to try and work out what the best ad format is.

The second principle is that he focuses on the most valuable keywords to target. If you use AdSense you’ll know that the AdSense keywords you use are crucial to determine your earnings. You can be getting a few cents a click or, if you use the right keywords – the most valuable keywords, you can be getting several dollars per click. He gives you a free list of hundreds and hundreds of high earning keywords; keywords that advertisers are willing to bid up to 30 dollars or more for a single click.

The third principle is that you get lots and lots of targeted content. Content is king, as I say, and what he does is provide you with a ready-packaged bunch of content that you can lift and use directly, legitimately, on your website. This gives you keyword-rich targeted content that includes the keywords that are bid for by the highest paying advertisers, and he gives you all these things for free.

The main point behind the software, as it is a piece of software, is that it enables you to track absolutely everything about your ads campaign. It tells you which ads have been clicked on, how often and from which pages. It tells you where people have come from, how they’ve typed something into a search engine to find you and what phrases they’ve typed into that search engine.

AdSense's advantages

AdSense is simple to join.

It's easy to paste a bit of code into your pages.

It's free to join.

You don't have to spend time finding advertisers.

Google provides well written, highly relevant ads - chosen to closely match the content on your pages.

You don't have to waste time choosing different ads for different pages.

You don't have to mess around with different code for various affiliate programs.

You're free to concentrate on providing good content and Google does the work of finding the best ads for your pages from 100,000 AdWords advertisers.

It's suitable for beginners or marketing veterans.

AdSense provides simple, easy-to-understand stats.

If you have affiliate links on your site, you ARE allowed to add AdSense ads. However, with your affiliate links, you must not mimic the look and feel of the Google ads.

You can filter up to 200 URLs, so you can block ads for sites that don't meet your standards. You can also block strong competitors.

Inevitably, AdSense is competing strongly for space on web sites with all other revenue sharing opportunities.

If you own a small web site you can plug a bit of AdSense code into your site and almost instantly relevant text ads that are likely to appeal to your visitors will appear on your pages.

If you own several sites, you need apply only once. This makes AdSense much simpler than joining a bunch of affiliate programs.

As you can see, I'm really keen on this revenue sharing service.

Disadvantages

One problem is inappropriate ads. You don't want spammy junk advertised on your site. Google's standards probably aren't as high as yours. You can filter out 200 URLs, but in some industries that won't be enough.

The stats Google supplies are inadequate. They're easy to understand at a glance. However, they don't tell you exactly which ads people are clicking on, or which keywords are involved. That's frustrating.

Also, I'd like to be able to identify and block ads that have very low payout rates, without doing a lot of sleuthing and messing around.

The ad panels say "Ads by Google" - free advertising for Google. You don't earn anything if someone clicks on that link.

The minimum payout is $100, which is regarded as too high by sites which don't receive much traffic. That won't worry experienced webmasters.

Also, sites that want to display AdSense ads may not include "other content-targeted and/or text-based ads on the pages displaying AdWords ads." However, human beings review the sites. Rejected sites have been able to appeal successfully.

Another disadvantage is that Google doesn't allow you to share your stats with other webmasters. The AdSense Terms and Conditions say:

"Confidentiality. You agree not to disclose Google Confidential Information without Google's prior written consent. 'Google Confidential Information' includes without limitation: ... (b) click-through rates or other statistics relating to Site performance in the Program provided to you by Google..."

That's really weird. Web site owners need to be able to share such information and discuss successes and failures.

A big disadvantage of the service is that Google doesn't say how much its AdSense partners will receive. You'll just receive an unknown share of the revenue.

Only a company with the goodwill and respect Google has earned could get away with such a cheeky offer.

Google says:

"How much will I earn through this program? The AdWords ads you are able to display on your content pages are cost-per-click (CPC) ads. This means that advertisers pay only when users click on ads. You'll receive a portion of the amount paid for clicks on AdWords ads on your website. Although we don't disclose the exact revenue share, our goal is to enable publishers to make as much or more than they could with other advertising networks."

So the only way to know how much you'll earn is to try it and see. If you want to bail out, all you have to do is remove the code from your site.

Don't put all your eggs in the AdSense basket. If Google discovers fraudulent clicks on ads appearing on your pages, it can dump your site from the service, and refuse to pay you all revenue owed. Some webmasters who claim total innocence have had this happen to them.

Google has made several changes to its AdSense FAQ, clarifying varying things. For example, it IS possible to apply for separate accounts for separate web sites. I've done so, and checked with Google that it's OK in my case. Read the rules - they look ambiguous to me. If in doubt, ask first!

Some time after the launch of AdSense, Google added "channels" which improve the tracking. I strongly recommend that you experiment with these.

Sites with "excessive advertising" are being rejected.

PLEASE read the rules and FAQ. When I looked, some advice in the rules contradicted advice in the FAQ. If in any doubt, ask their support staff. They're very helpful.

Maximizing Your AdSense Revenues

Despite what you may hear, the Google AdSense program is not for everyone. There are some types of web sites that do poorly no matter how hard the owners try, and there are others that should be doing well but the webmaster simply isn’t putting in the effort to make things happen.

Here are some tips to make AdSense work better for you. If you do them all and you’re still not having any luck, then you just might be running one of those sites that don’t make money

1. Determine if your visitors are “in the mood”

Like I mentioned at the top of this article, some web sites just don’t work with pay-per-click programs. The best performing sites fall into one of these categories:

• Sites where users go and expect to buy something while they are there. E-commerce sites fit the bill here..

• Sites where users go to find specific information on something that they want to buy now. Music and video review sites, vacation information sites, resume building sites, etc. You don’t have to actually be selling these types of things; your site can just be a mecca for information pertaining to these things. Then, when the visitor comes to read your content, they are more likely to click on your ads.

• Sites where people who have disposable income and a credit card like to visit. This includes sites with money management, investing and lifestyle content.

• Sites that draw a large amount of new users every day. Free coupon sites and “How to” sites are good examples.

• Sites where people go who expect to read ads. Classified ads and shopping comparison sites fit into this category.

2. Make sure that your visitors don’t feel that you just want to grab their money

Give them plenty of relevant and well-written content. If writing isn’t your best skill then hire someone to do it for you. Good content brings steady traffic and steady traffic pays the bills.

3. Play by the rules

Google has some very specific Terms of Service (https://www.google.com/adsense/policies) for participating in their AdSense program. Learn those rules and follow them so you don’t lose all of your investment by getting shut out.

4. Use the tools that Google gives you

Google gives you tools for determining the best keywords for your site, measuring ad performance, and setting up different ad “channels” for fine-tuning ad results. These guys and girls are the 800 lb. Gorillas in the Pay-Per-Click market. They didn’t build these tools just to keep their programmers busy. Take advantage of their knowledge for they are very big and you are not!

5. Tweak, fine-tune and then tweak again

You should never be happy with your AdSense performance. If it’s good, then you need to make it great. If it’s great then you need to make it amazing. If it’s amazing then you need to take it to the UPS club. The UPS club? Google sends all checks over $10,000 per month to the webmaster via UPS overnight delivery. Now there’s a club that I wouldn’t mind belonging to.

6. Get more traffic

No matter how much traffic you have, you need more. More eyeballs translate to more clicks. Even if you’re only pulling a 2% click-through. That’s a lot of clicks when you have thousands of visitors each day.

7. Experiment with new keywords

New keywords can bring new ads and new eyeballs along with it. Set up some new pages on your site and experiment with different content. Once you get something that’s working then refer back to Tip # 5.

You can see results in near real time when you use Google’s AdWords. Don’t be afraid to be different. If something that everyone else is doing doesn’t work for you, then invent something that does work and get it on your site.

Tips For Adsense Content

One of the most essential aspects of getting the most out of your involvement with Google’s Adsense program is to be certain that Google serves up the most relevant ads possible on your site. The concept is easy to grasp--visitors travel to your sites in search of certain content on their topic of interest. If they see advertisements directly related to those content desires, they are far more likely to click on the ads than if they encounter only tangentially related material or, in a worst case scenario, ads that are not even related to their interests. As such, it is in your best interests to make sure your site displays relevant ads. Here are few tips for improving your content relevancy to produce more accurately targeted contextual advertising from Adsense.

FIRST THINGS FIRST. Before you even begin to use Adsense as a monetization tool, make sure there are relevant ads for your site or pages. In most cases, you will have determined this long before you even embarked on site design or content development. However, if you are thinking of adding Adsense to an existing site built with other monetization strategies originally in mind, you may not have bothered checking to see if other advertisers were going after that particular market. Be sure you are addressing a topic for which ads exist in sufficient quantity. If related advertising is sparse, it will difficult to avoid irrelevant ads.

KEYWORDS MATTER. You do not want content that is overstuffed with particular keywords to point of destroying readability and value, but you do want to make sure your materials make liberal use of on-topic keywords likely to spawn the most relevant possible ads. Experts maintain that using keywords with your titles and H1 tags is an excellent way to assist in getting the most relevant possible ads. This has added advantages in terms of search engine optimization, as well.

METATAGS. Once upon a time, metatags were a critical aspect of search engine optimization in general. Although the engines rely upon metatags far less than they once did, there is some evidence to suggest that using ad-triggering keywords in your pages’ meta-tags may increase the relevance of the advertisements displayed. This strategy may help, and it certainly cannot hurt.

LOOK FOR LACKLUSTER CONTENT. Many sites to a great job of supplying content related to particular themes or keywords in the main portion of a page, but have sidebars, headers and footers filled with less targeted terms and material. Take a long look at your navigational elements and other “side of the page” text and remove keyword terminology that may be leading to irrelevant ad service. Alternatively, you can use Adsense’s section targeting tool to remove those areas from Adsense’s consideration completely, so long as you do not plan to display ad blocks or ad link units in those areas.

TIGHT THEMING. You want to keep content tightly themed. That means you do not want to feature long, rambling articles that cover multiple topics. Instead, rely upon materials that address singular issues. You also do not want to feature multiple chunks of content on disparate matters on the same page for that very same reason. The value of tight theming may extend past individual pages. Many publishers argue that Adsense tends to reward tightly-themed overall sites with more relevant ads, as well. Even though this aspect of theming is not as well researched and proven, it makes sense to follow the practice, because of the search engine optimization advantages of having a focused site.

BLOCK THE BAD ADS. Monitor your site regularly and take note when irrelevant ads appear. Then, take the time to add them to your blacklist for the site. Google does give you the ability to block individual ads via the Competitive Ad Filter. If you block out commonly served irrelevant ads, you may improve your chances of featuring more ads upon which your visitors will actually click.

The more contextually relevant the ads appearing on your site are, the more clicks you can expect to see. As such, it is important to make an effort to use a combination of proven SEO methods that also work well with Adsense and some program-specific maneuvers to secure the best possible ads on your site.

Getting paid from AdSense

1. Check your address

Since payments are sent to the mailing address submitted with your application, it's important to confirm the accuracy of your contact information and payee name. If you need to correct any information:

Log into your account at https://www.google.com/adsense

Select the My Account tab.
Click the edit link adjacent to Payee Information and update the appropriate fields.
Click Save Changes to update your account, or Cancel to exit without saving.
For security reasons, you cannot change the Payee Name or Country fields once your application has been approved. If you need to make changes to either of these fields, please contact us and request that we close your account. Once your request has been processed, you will then be able to submit a new application with the corrected payee name and mailing address.

2. Provide your tax information

In addition to confirming your contact information, you'll need to submit your tax information so that you may become eligible to receive a payment from Google. We're required to collect tax-related information from all AdSense publishers, including publishers who are based outside of the U.S. , and we're unable to send payment to you until your information has been submitted. So don't skip this step!

If you haven't yet submitted your tax information, click the Tax Information link from the My Account tab. From this page, an easy-to-use wizard interface will help guide you to the appropriate online forms. You're able to submit most forms online, and we'll give you instructions on submitting any other forms that may be required.

3. Select your form of payment

Depending on your payment address, there may be a number of payment options available to you — we suggest you read What forms of payment are available to me? in the AdSense Support center to learn about each option. Once you've decided how you'd like to be paid, click the Payment Information [edit] link from the My Account tab of your AdSense account. Follow the instructions on that page to select your form of payment. Your payments will be held until you have selected a form of payment.

4. Enter your PIN

Once you've earned $50 in combined AdSense for content and AdSense for search earnings, we'll mail a Personal Identification Number to the payment address in your account. You'll need to enter this PIN into your account before we can send any payments to you. Your PIN will be sent by standard post and will take 2-3 weeks to arrive.

5. Generate $100 in earnings

When your total unpaid earnings reach $100, we’ll send you a payment at the end of the next month. For example, if your total unpaid earnings reached $100 during January and you completed the 4 steps above, we would send you a payment at the end of February.

If your total unpaid earnings haven’t yet reached $100, they'll roll over to the next month and accrue until they meet the $100 threshold.

Payment is disbursed within approximately 30 days of the end of the month — to see the timeline of our payment cycle, read the Payment Timelines section below.

Tracking Account Performance
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You can track the performance of your AdSense for content ads and your AdSense for search pages from the Reports tab of your publisher account. The Reports tab includes two sub-tabs: Overview and Advanced Reports. There's also important information included in the Payment History table, which is linked from the Overview as well as the My Account tab.

Overview: this screen provides you with quick access to today's earnings, in addition to your page impressions, clicks, clickthrough rate, effective CPM, and earnings for several pre-set date ranges (if you don't know what these terms mean, we've provided a Glossary at https://www.google.com/adsense/glossary). Overall AdSense for content and AdSense for search statistics displayed on this page can be expanded to show data for top-performing channels. You can also view predefined Quick Reports by clicking the links at the bottom of the page.

Note: if you're viewing Channel reports, the data is delayed two days before appearing in your reports. This gives us time to synchronize the data across all channels, but means that you won't see any results if you select a date range within the last two days.

Advanced Reports: Using the Advanced Reports page, you can create customized reports by choosing a product, a date range and any channels. Page impressions, clicks, clickthrough rate, effective CPM, and earnings for any dates and options you prefer can be displayed from this page.

Payment History: This page tracks the status of previously issued payments, as well as monthly account calculations. You can click the Earnings... line item for any month in this table to view your AdSense for content and AdSense for search earnings, as well as any adjustments made to your account. Once you've qualified for a payment, and your check has been sent for printing or your EFT payment queued up, you'll see it listed on this page as Payment.... Click on the link to see the payment details as well as the exchange rate used to calculate your local currency payment, if applicable.

Payment Timelines or, "When am I paid?"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One of the more common questions we receive at AdSense support is, "when am I paid?" This is, in our opinion, a very justifiable question - after all, AdSense is designed to provide an easy way to monetize your content pages, and that includes regular payment.

This section will describe the payment cycle of your AdSense account, so that you'll have a good idea of when and how your payment will arrive.

Earnings calculated: On the last day of each month, our system identifies all accounts that have earned $100 or more in valid user clicks. This figure is calculated from your unpaid earnings - if you earned $40 one month, and $70 the next, you're eligible for payment. All accounts with $100 or more are then sent for approval. Earnings details will be posted to the Payment History page of all publisher accounts within the next few days.

Payment calculated: Within the next few weeks, a 'Payment' line item will be posted to your account's Payment History page (found below the My Account tab) when your payment has been calculated.

At this time, we'll have your check printed and in the mail, or your Electronic Funds Transfer payment initiated. All checks are made out to the Payee Name entered in your account; EFT payments are sent to the bank account specified in the Payment Information section of the My Account tab.

Payment arrives: The time it takes for your payment to arrive depends on form of payment you have selected. Generally, publishers in the U.S. will receive regular delivery checks within 1-2 weeks of the mailing date, while publishers outside of the U.S. will typically receive their regular delivery check in 2-3 weeks. Secure Delivery will generally arrive in 5-7 days, and EFT payments should arrive in your bank account within 2-4 days. If there are any problems with your EFT or check, a notice will be posted on your Payment History page. If you haven't received your secure delivery or EFT payment by the 5th of the next month, you can request a reissue by contacting us. Publishers using standard delivery can request a reissue on the 25th.

Holding Payments
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If for any reason you would prefer not to receive your check at any time, we're happy to hold payments for you.

If you'd like to pause your payments, you may do so from within your publisher account. Setting a payment self-hold will stop payments until you update your preference and remove the hold. Your account will continue to accrue earnings, and we'll send you a single consolidated payment during the first payment cycle after you remove your hold. To modify your hold preference:
Log in to your account at www.google.com/adsense
Click the My Account tab
Click the edit link in the Payment Holding section
To start a payment self-hold, select the Hold Payment checkbox and click Save. To end a hold and resume regular payments, deselect the checkbox and click Save.
Please note that all changes to your hold preferences should be made by the 15th of the month. Changes made to these settings after the 15th of the month may apply to either the current or next payment cycle.

AdSense for a Webmaster

If you are a webmaster, then you may have heard about Google's Adsense program from another happy webmaster earning thousands of dollars from it. I was one of the happy webmasters that found the Adsense program to be a great source of revenue. You are either thinking, what in the world is Adsense or how in the world can I successfully profit from it.

To answer the first part of this question, Adsense is a program that allows webmasters to place ad links on their Web sites and earn money when their visitors click on ad links. The unique feature about Adsense is that the ad links that appear on your Web sites are related to your site's content. How much you earn from the Adsense program depends on two things:

-Number of clicks to your Adsense ad links
-Value of these links

Now you are probably holding onto your chair and yelling, "I want to know how to profit from Google Adsense!"

Ok, are you ready? Do not let go of that chair or you might fall you!

To profit from Adsense, you must master these three important key factors:

-Keywords
-Content Content Content!
-Traffic

Keywords and Content: These two factors determine what types of Adsense Ad links will appear on your Web site. If you do not do this research correctly, then ad links that are not related to the content may appear on your Web site and the percentage of ad link clicks will decrease. Remember that certain keywords have higher value than other keywords and to get higher revenue. When you write your content, you need to focus on using similar keywords.

For example, if your Web site is about dating, you would focus on using keywords like "dating" or "love". One secret to getting your visitors to click on your ad links are to build content on topics that really interest you and your visitors. Focus on your target market.

Traffic: Knowing where your traffic or Web visitors are coming from is also one of the most important factors. The more targeted traffic that flows to your Web site, the more clicks you will receive, and the more revenue you will make. This is where most webmasters will focus their efforts on.

Traffic Secrets: Try to get most of your traffic from search engines because this is where you get most of your high quality traffic. If you cannot do this, you can always get your hands on Expired Domain Traffic that you can purchase from suppliers who have the high ranked Web sites. If you do not know how to get your site ranked high in search engines, there are thousands of free online resources out on the web. You can also hire a search engine optimization guru, because it will be worth it in the end.

Mistakes to avoid:

-Do not create Web sites only for the purpose of putting Adsense ad links on your site! Why? Google has a way of knowing this and they clearly state that if you have this type of Web site, they will ban you.
-Do not click on your own links because this will also get you banned.
-Once you've been banned from the Adsense program, they will never let you back in.

Remember, this is the best paying Pay Per Click webmaster payment program out there. I hope you succeed in this program and make much revenue!

AdSense is the most efficient advertising/media business ever created.

I think it's now clear that AdSense is the most efficient advertising/media business ever created. Google Q3 numbers are stunning... in fact, mindblowing.

Google Inc. reported that its earnings nearly doubled and revenue soared 70% in the third quarter, a sign that the Web-search giant continues to gain market share as more advertisers shift their spending to the Internet. Shares jumped 9% after hours.

The Mountain View, Calif., company reported a net income of $733.4 million, or $2.36 a share, compared with $381.2 million, or $1.32 cents a share, a year earlier. Revenue rose 70% to $2.69 billion from $1.58 billion a year earlier. Excluding the payments Google makes to acquire Internet traffic, sales rose 79% to $1.86 billion.

Google said its operations outside the U.S. are playing a greater role in driving growth at the company. Non-U.S. sales contributed 44% of total revenue in the third quarter, compared with 39% a year earlier.

The company added 1,436 employees during the period, ending September with a total of 9,378 full time employees.
